About Currys
Founded in 1884 by Henry Curry, Currys started off as a bicycle builder operating from a shed in the back of his garden at 40 Painter Street Leicester. Curry opened his first shop in 1888 at Belgrave Gate, Leicester. Henry formed a partnership with his son calling it H. Curry & Sons. After this the business started to flourish and was floated on the stock exchange in 1927. Today Currys is the leading electrical retailer in the United Kingdom trading online and from over 550 of Currys superstore outlets.
