At the beginning Gerry Pack realised that booking airport hotels was not easy, no offers or discounts were available and surprisingly there were countless hotel rooms standing empty when they could be filled just by offering a little discount to the customers who wanted value for money but comfortable rooms for their airport stay.
Holiday Extras was born and started out at as Apple Booking Company using two telephone booking operators offering a limited amount of hotels at Gatwick, Heathrow & Luton. All the prices were offered at a promotional rate to appeal to the holiday leisure markets. Many of the hotels offered are unnamed and hence are able to give the best prices around, and bear in mind there are not many low quality airport hotels around, and even if there were Holiday Extras wouldn't be offering their services.
The very first hotels
The first hotels used were the Moat House at London Gatwick and Luton Airport and Forte Hotels at London Heathrow. With this top accommodation aimed at the business traveller there was little doubt that the hotels were pricing themselves out of the standard leisure traveller's budget or certainly what they were prepared to pay on top of the travel cost. HolidayExtras.co.uk changed all this by discount pricing the rooms at a lower cost making them more affordable. They now deal with all types of hotels and rooms from budget to luxury, but never compromise on quality and service.
HolidayExtras.co.uk website was launched in April 2000 and was now able to offer bookings to customers direct.
